Soulful, heartfelt, powerful. These three words describe one of Brisbane’s most talented acoustic singer-songwriters, Mark Lowndes. With his fusion of pop, reggae and soul, Mark Lowndes packs an undeniable punch in his recordings and live shows. With his honest performances, meaningful lyrics and catchy melodies, this artist will leave you wanting more, whether he graces the stage with his band or just solo with his guitar.
In his musical journey of over 10 years Mark has established himself as an artist deserving of the world stage. From winning local songwriting competitions to supporting Motown greats ‘Boys to Men’ on their Australian tour, performing at various local and international festivals, to the milestone release of his first self titled EP in 2008, this independent artist steadily continues to reach into different pockets of the world with his indelible style of sound.
With his recent success as a finalist on the national television show ‘Australia’s Got Talent’ in 2012 that saw him labeled as Australia’s soul man by judge Danni Minogue, Mark went on to release his second EP ‘Present’ showcasing the two hit songs from the show ‘Afternoon’ and ‘Hold’.
What most people don’t know about this level headed creative is that he won the Brisbane and Queensland ‘Slam poetry’ competition in 2012, representing his state in the Australian Slam poetry finals in Sydney, New South Wales.
Mark is heavily involved in running workshops across Brisbane. Working closely with various Youth organisations. networking with chaplains, guidance officers and teachers, for his constant high school visits that have become a regular priority across the South East Queensland. This led to the successful ‘Redress’ tour which saw Mark performing in various high schools in Brisbane and surrounds.
June 2013 will see the much anticipated release of Mark’s new single ‘Far Away’. The song will be released hot on the trail of Mark returning from a European Tour. Beautifully written with heartfelt lyrics the song is bound to capture hearts around the country.
Mark says of the track “Far Away is a universal song, I think nearly everyone will be able to connect a certain experience in their life with it. The song is about separation, but always carrying that special someone or something in your heart with you.”
The single will be followed shortly after by the release of Mark’s new EP ‘The Redress’.
For those lucky enough to have seen Mark live will know that the mixture of his spoken word (slam poetry), songs, a dash of rap and his humility amongst his unique rhythmic guitar playing, leaves his eclectic approach to music in a world of his own.
