Rising star, Shanleigh Rose is set to release her highly anticipated breakup anthem, “We’re Not Friends,” a fierce and unapologetic track that solidifies her place in the spotlight. The new single, which blends elements of country, pop, and raw emotion, delivers a bold message about the hostile aftermath of a broken relationship.
“We’re Not Friends” cuts straight to the heart, serving as a cathartic reminder that an ex can’t just waltz back into your life with a “friendly” label. “Cause friends don’t lie and lead you on,” Rose declares, underlining the emotional truth that many know all too well. The song’s catchy, defiant chorus and gritty lyrics perfectly capture the frustration and empowerment that come with recognizing one’s worth after the end of a toxic relationship.
“A lot of the time, people think they can treat you carelessly and then have the audacity to try and call you a friend afterward. In my case, this someone was an ex. I’ve learned that self-respect and knowing what is best for you is far more important than letting emotions allow the wrong kind of people to stay in your life. I came to this realization only after I’d finished writing the song. It was a hard lesson to learn, but hey, I got a pretty cool song out of it. I hope ‘We’re Not Friends’ can empower others to recognize their self-worth and determine who’s allowed to call them a friend.” Shanleigh Rose
The singles release marks another milestone in the rapidly growing career of Maleny (QLD) based Shanleigh Rose, who has been making waves in the Australian country music scene. She is also the proud recipient of the TSA John P. Toomey Commemorative Youth Songwriting Award and continues to enchant audiences with her emotionally resonant songs.
