From a chance meeting at the Tamworth Country Music Festival 2015 between brothers Ron and Bob Heard and Country singer-songwriter Paul Costa, came a remarkable story of adventure. The brothers told the story about their Grandfather Charlie Heard and a wealthy lady called Ada Beal. Back in 1930 Ada approached Charlie for a very long taxi fare to Darwin and back to Geelong. Paul felt the need to write and record a song about this very challenging adventure called “Charlie’s 28”. The interest and feedback for the song and story at Paul’s shows has been amazing!
Paul Costa is now delighted to announce that Charlie and Ada’s story looks set to become a TV miniseries called The Long Fare, produced by Overlander Pictures. Overlander Pictures has been so supportive of Paul’s song Charlie’s ’28, they provided this teaser music clip with original photos from the 1930 outback adventure – taken with Charlie’s own camera. Along with photos and footage from the Heard family’s recreation of the trip in 2008. Stay tuned to Paul’s website and social media as cast and production dates are announced.
